Question 1

Is Looties a real Facebook Marketplace alternative for tech swag?

Accepted Answer

Yes, for tech merch specifically. Facebook Marketplace gets you fast, local visibility, but the audience is generalist and the experience is unstructured: messages get lost, no Buyer Protection, no shipping built in. Looties is a marketplace where developers and tech enthusiasts buy and sell conference swag, limited-edition merch, and developer gear, with payments, shipping, and protection handled end-to-end.

Question 2

Why use Looties instead of Facebook Marketplace's free listings?

Accepted Answer

Listing on Looties is also free. The difference is everything that happens after the listing goes live. Buyers actually recognize tech-branded items, payments are processed via Stripe Connect with held-payouts, shipping labels are generated at checkout, and Buyer Protection is included on every order. Facebook leaves all of that to you.

Question 3

Does Looties handle shipping like Facebook Marketplace?

Accepted Answer

Looties supports shipping from sellers in Europe (Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, France, Austria, Spain, Italy, Ireland, the UK) to buyers in those countries, in Switzerland, and in the US. US-based sellers can ship to US buyers domestically, and Canadian sellers can ship to Canadian buyers domestically. US–Canada cross-border shipping is not available. Labels are generated at checkout, with no separate carrier setup.

Question 4

What kinds of tech items are wasted on Facebook Marketplace?

Accepted Answer

Conference exclusives, limited-edition merch, AMD Lego sets, sticker packs, and anything where the brand or event is the value driver. On Facebook, those listings get scrolled past by buyers who don't recognize them. On Looties, they reach buyers who came looking for exactly that.
